So here the Grand Poopah was sitting in the drive-thru at Freddy’s waiting for my order and I thought, “Hmmm, I wonder if the Gateway Creative Broadcasting boys and girls have taken over KDHX yet”.\u00a0 \u00a0I punch up 88.1 expecting to hear Christian Country.\u00a0 Or maybe even Christian Punk.\u00a0 Maybe even Christian Polka.\u00a0 But no!\u00a0 What do I hear?\u00a0 LL Cool J!\u00a0 Huh?\u00a0 is this the same group of broadcasters who have given us Christian CCM formats like “Joy 99.1” and “Boost 95.5”.\u00a0 Then I heard the imaging\u00a0 \u00a0“The Rhythm of St. Louis, JAMS!”\u00a0 \u00a0What the hell?\u00a0 \u00a0OOOpps.\u00a0 Sorry.\u00a0 What the HECK!<\/p>\n

It’s 80’s and 90s rap and disco, much of it remixed.\u00a0 Heck, John Combest<\/a> probably knows the lyrics to most of these songs.\u00a0 \u00a0I don’t get it.\u00a0 No “Jars of Clay” or “Toby Mac”.\u00a0 \u00a0And I don’t think I heard “God” or “Jesus” once in the 30 minutes that I listened.\u00a0 But I did notice something very subtle.\u00a0 In the remixes I swear (sorry) I heard something way in the background of the mixes.<\/p>\n

So I headed back to the studio and dialed up the old Marantz 2270 to 88.1 and cranked up the JBL 4311s.\u00a0 Yes, I heard something way back in the mixes.\u00a0 But I still couldn’t quite make out the words.\u00a0 So I put on the trusty Sony MDR7506 cans and there it was.\u00a0 Way back in the mix I could hear it.\u00a0 “Let us Pray”.\u00a0 Then “Jesus”.\u00a0 Then “God”\u00a0 Then “Send us some money”.\u00a0 \u00a0Now I get it!\u00a0 Crafty!<\/p>\n

If you don’t know the background in a bankruptcy auction (I still say it was a sham) Gateway Creative Broadcasting beat out EMF (AKA K Love and Air 1, the MEGA CCM broadcaster with a net worth of one BILLION dollars) for the KDHX license and transmitter site.\u00a0 \u00a0All it took was $8.75 MILLION.\u00a0 \u00a0That must make KRAP worth as least $2M (or maybe even $2K).<\/p>\n

The new calls of KLJT were approved by the FCC on September 22nd, 2025.\u00a0 And on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025 the FCC granted the assignment of the license from Double Helix (RIP) to Gateway Creative Broadcasting (just before the government shut down—Prayers answered?).<\/p>\n

So, if this just a stunt?\u00a0 \u00a0How long will this format last?\u00a0 I can’t quite figure out why anyone would pay $8.75 million to play 80 and 90’s disco and rap remixes.\u00a0 But I do like it.\u00a0 It reminds me of Majic 108 back in the day.\u00a0 Maybe Linda O’Connor is behind this.\u00a0 \u00a0We can only hope!\u00a0 \u00a0.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
