The Grand Poopah got an invite to the kickoff event for Real Talk 93.3 Thursday night. Really? ME? Being the party animal that I am I showed up at the Real Talk studios on Edison in Chesterfield. Right next to Spirit. The studios are on the eastern end of runway 8R/26L (right at the threshold of 26L). Great place for recording studios (JK).
The parking lot was jammed. The valet took one look at the Grand Poopah’s hooptie and asked me to park across the street. Oh well. Walked in the door and the place was packed. I took a self guided tour of the studios. Take a look at the pictures (BELOW) and tell me what you think.
The best part of the evening was when I ran into Dan Strauss. After working as a producer for Frank O’Pinion for decades Dan is going to produce the morning show on 93.3. Dan was his usual positive self. This guy is never in a bad mood.
Tracy gave a 5 minute speech and thanked everyone for being there. The stations (they already have announced two and there’s an other 3 on the way according to Tracy) are supposed to be on the air Monday, July 26th.
This is gonna be interesting. Real Talk is going to be competing with 97.1, the newly minted News Talk STL at 101.9 (and soon to be Vipering at 100.7) and now the rumored FOURTH conservative talker at 104.9. Yep, John Beck, the refugee from the Refugees who is now the Grand Poobah (no relation to the Grand Poopah) at I Heart STL, is rumored to be changing Majic 104.9 into Jamie Allman 104.9 where Jamie is gonna eat, drink and sleep conservative talk 24 hours a day. Are there enough right wingers (and leftty haters LOL) to support FOUR stations? Time will tell.
