The Grand Poopah has finally made it! After almost FIVE DECADES in the media biz I’ve finally received one! Yes, boy and girls, I got a Cease and Desist letter from an honest to goodness attorney. CLICK HERE to read it. The amazing part of the story is that the C and D letter is from Tracy Ellis’s attorney. You know Tracy? With her husband Rick (who told me he doesn’t trust radio people….I know your are (now) but what am I?) they are the movers and shakers (Jerry Berger vernacular) behind “The Voice of Freedom”. Is it just me or is this just a tad bit ironic (You can click this link to listen to Alainis)? Or maybe hypocritical? The Voice of Freedom wants to quash (attorney lingo) my voice? Well isn’t that special!?!?
Here’s a great quote from one of Rick and Tracy’s recent press releases. “When starting this network, it was important for us to report the news from multiple sources and let the people use their own discernment”. Except if you’re the Grand Poopah, then you get a C and D letter. Ooopps, I’m sorry. The quote goes on to say, “It was also just as important to bring spirituality back to the local airwaves in a talk format along with liberty and love of country”. Hmmmm, let me work on that for a second. The Grand Poopah is a minister (no kidding) who really believes in liberty. Plus I really love our country. But when the Grand Poopah writes something about Tracy that she doesn’t like she decides that I shouldn’t have my own “Voice of Freedom”? I will pray for them.
Perhaps the funniest part of this is that the post she complained about (you can read it here) was 100% SATIRE! It was a satirical piece that made fun of what the new format for 104.9 was going to be. It centered around Jamie Allman’s unfortunate situation of his Twitter post concerning the Florida high school dude that got Jamie nuked at 97.1. Guess who texted the Grand Poopah and said he liked the post? Jamie Allman! Thank you Jamie for having a sense of humor. And more importantly, thanks for being a seasoned radio pro who doesn’t take himself too seriously. You’re a true patriot who talks the “real talk”.
